The Rut

So good!

One hour earlier ....

I bolted from my comfy chair, turned off the TV, got dressed and decided
it was almost high noon and high time for me to get out of this,
much deeper than the picture below, RUT!!! Eek.

It's time to get moving and shed some pre-Christmas and apres-Christmas overindulging!

It's a beautiful, crisp and sunny Winter's Day
and there cannot be any more excuses.
I've been inspired by a dear friend Anita who
walks every day (earlier in the morning that this, I might add!)
and has been "defluffing" as my blog friend Ellen calls it,
with great success.
You can find Ellen's fun and inspirational posts at:
https://happywonderer.com.
Defluffing has to be a theme over here too.

I've missed this walk and this sunny day brings some lovely shots.

My treat at the end of this, almost 45 minute, walk down our country road
was a delicious spinach smoothie.
Why have I waited so long to do this?
Pray that I will continue to get on the road get out of the rut
to healthier days ahead.

Spinach, a splash of carrot juice, squeeze of lemon,
half avocado, banana, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries,
melon and a good dash of cinnamon!

My other rut is being so behind in blogging/journalling
and getting caught up with pictures and such.
A new month is just around the corner - a new chance to make some much needed changes?

Another great reason to stay healthy!!!
Can't believe we had this much snow just 18 days ago.

Till next time - taking "baby steps" down this road. Are you struggling with this?

  1. Oh dear friend, I'm trying to get back into a walking rut instead of an inactive rut. Good for you for getting up and out and drinking that green stuff! :)
Lots of fun events this year that I'd appreciate being less fluffy for. Be careful on those roads!

  2. All the best with your plan! I need a plan, but we have a fair amount of snow and a ton of ice. Boo hiss.

I wouldn’t be able to enjoy your smoothie, but there must be some recipe I could enjoy on my plan. (Basically my plan is eating nutritious meals, less snacking, and less food overall.)

Your little snowman maker is growing tall. Pretty soon, she’ll be enjoying spring. Your corner looks a lot closer to spring than mine.

  3. Ummm . . . I'd rather not talk about that rut. (Can we say "denial"?) But I am so proud of you for taking charge of your health!

I'd rather talk about that sweet little girl enjoying the snow! Grandbabies are the best!

  4. I have many good intentions here as well, and also seem to find myself stuck in that rut. I actually started out on a walk several times this week, but turned back because of the rain. There is nothing but rain in the forecast for the next week, so I'm not sure how my good intentions will turn out. Your smoothie looks great!

  5. Why is it that the hardest part is to decide to walk or get out of the rut? Once I get out from under those comfy covers and get ready to face the rain, I feel good! I'm never sorry after I've walked. All the best to you! Good for you to drink that green stuff! 😬

  6. Good for you getting out that rut. It so hard to get motivated, but once I do, I feel so much better.

  7. It's our dog who's suffering this winter as it's been too cold for her owners to want to walk her! I'm afraid the vet will tell us she's too chubby at her next appt. Maybe she needs some healthy smoothies??? I love the ingredients you used :)
