On New Year's Eve
we watched "The Last Waltz",
a Martin Scorsese Film about
a concert by the rock group "The Band" that was held
on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976
at Winterland Ballroom in San Franscisco.
It was one of those deja vue films
with performers such as Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond,
Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, etc.
all accompanied by The Band.
Some of our favourite songs:
Up Cripple Creek
Georgia on my Mind
Ophelia
Helpless
Four Strong Winds
Evangeline
Forever Young
You get the picture and by this you know
my era too!
The song that hit me the hardest was Forever Young
performed beautifully by Bob Dylan!
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
As today is yet another birthday for moi,
I shall hold onto this song to get me through another year!!!!
If you have a chance to watch this film or just
have it play in the background, I think you'll enjoy it
as much as I did!

A very Happy Birthday to you Rosella! May this year be one filled with God's blessings galore!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you and the best year you've ever had!
ReplyDeleteNow, I am not familiar with this song or else I am not familiar with those words, which I do love by the way. So maybe I didn't understand what Dylan was singing. Maybe I need to investigate.
Happy Birthday my friend. It would be so fun to celebrate our birthdays together. God's best to you in this year. I love your profile pic.....looking young and beautiful! Kathy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lyrics, and a touching post. So many words of wisdom especially "seeing the lights surrounding you" "when the winds of change shift". Here's to staying forever young, Rosella. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, my friend! These songs bring back a lot of memories for me, too!!!
ReplyDeleteA belated Happy Birthday to you, Rosella! May you stay forever young! I love that song and have a recording by Joan Baez. I love to belt out the words along with her!
ReplyDeleteYou know that's my favorite song right?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and I know you will stay forever young, because it's what's in the inside that counts, now all the waves and squiggles.
So each year, is another year to retirement....
Hold tight and don't forget to tie a knot when needed.
PS...yeah, Lisa made a perfect zebra cake. Everyone who has made them successfully before says my batter looks good. I think using butter instead of oil may have been the problem...but if I use oil, I don't think the taste will be quite as nice. But I will try again :)
ReplyDeleteThere are som great words in that song! Young at heart is something to strive for - seasoned with the blessing that maturity brings. Happy Birthday!!! Many blessings for the new year ahead!
ReplyDeleteHi, Rosella, I actually used plastic wrap under the foil as called for in the recipe. Many others elected to use parchment (which I'd do next time :)). Have a great weekend!!!
