to commemorate that day/week 3 years ago!
We miss him so deeply!
and a tombstone decoration was put in place...
Today is Sunday, December 1. The advent candle has been lit,
giving much hope for the coming season and the joy of Christmas.
So thankful for "unto us a child is born"
The best kind of hope.
The decorating has begun, bit by bit and our first family gathering with my siblings
and much loved inlaws, gives me a warm kind of hope.
We don't gather often but when we have the chance it is so very meaningful.
All were able to come in spite of the weather being frightful!
We missed one sister and BIL who live too far away in the great white North to be able to come.
We managed to do a facetime with them, however, and sang Happy Birthday to the one
turning 75 today!
It also helped give me the "push" I needed to set up the wee tree
(on wheels, as my brother noted) for a time together at my house, apres dinner.
Has your decorating begun or been completed?
How are your Christmas plans and hopes for the season shaping up?
I have been practicing each morning to make a design
on my morning latte coffee.
It's not going well.
So far I have a tree, sort of a heart,
and an angel I think (that was supposed to be a tree).
I admire the baristas that can create their beautiful designs and make it look so easy!
Endless online tutorials just don't seem to help me.
But, I do love my morning coffee non-the-less.
Till next time ... stop to smell the coffee and may you feel hopeful and joy with the anticipation for this most holy season.
Good morning but I just looked at the clock and it is good afternoon to you! First snow looks like a big dump of the white stuff. Sweet to meet at the bench to love and encourage one another in your ongoing season of grief. Some things will never go away in this life on earth. How good for your siblings and inlaws to keep connected and to do a catch-up. Wonderful. I think your coffee art is great. ;) I have all the bins down now and it's just a matter of deciding what will go up this year. I don't think it has to be overdone for sure. MGCC dinner is Monday night the 9th so I'm racing to get things done before we have to travel. Hope your Advent season is meaningful and strengthening in your faith. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteRosella, those "special" days are so poignant, and I know you miss your dear Jim so much! Praying for you as you carry on each day . . . perhaps longing for the past, definitely treasuring the memories, but living in the present and enjoying its gifts.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely that your siblings/spouses gathered! Sometimes having people over is the impetus I need to get a few things done around the house, so I can relate to your pre-guest tree trimming! Hey . . . from the looks of this house and my Christmas-y cyclone here, maybe I need to invite someone over this weekend!
Show us your latte art next month. I'll bet there will be great improvement. As they say, "practice makes perfect!"
Blessings this month as you celebrate His coming!
